- Provide targeted and differentiated support for early writers
- Strengthen home-school partnerships for writing development
- Evaluate and adjust writing assessment and moderation practices
3. To Improve Teacher Feedback and Marking:
- Enhance the clarity and consistency of feedback (policy)
- Streamline feedback and marking practices for efficiency and effectiveness (training)
- Foster pupil engagement in feedback
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of feedback strategies on pupil understanding and outcomes
4. To Identify Core Knowledge and Create a new Structure for Optimal Spaced Practice:
- Identify principles of core knowledge
- Create core knowledge facts for each unit
- Create structure for practice
- PD on effective question design & principles of assessment (multiple choice/hinge questions)
- Develop pedagogy for implementing retrieval
- Monitor and evaluate impact
Horizon Habits - the routine things we need to do more of or do better:
- Reduce in-school variance
- Developing teacher subject knowledge and pedagogy
- Effective deployment of additional adults
- Embed CPD, prior school improvement initiatives and school wide expectations
- Reinforce professional culture through shared values, Framework for Excellence and curriculum drivers
- Maintain standards in the key areas of safeguarding, curriculum implementation, assessment & feedback, instructional practices, SEND support, attendance and behaviour management.
